Farrow and Ball Announce Key Colors for 2017

With the first day of Spring being earlier this week, Farrow and Ball announced the 2017 Key Colors or as they say it in England "colours". For those of you who don't know Farrow and Ball was started in 1946 in Dorset, they came overseas to the states in 1999. We love the quality of their paint and have used it in most of the rooms of our apartment as well as clients homes.

A few months ago Farrow and Ball reached out to Paul and asked him to create a mood board for their Spring Trend colors. They selected four designers in the US and UK to create a board for each of their colors. As you can imagine Paul was very excited and pulled together his palette quickly using All White as his inspiration.

You would think creating a white color palette might be difficult but the most challenging task for Paul was to simplify the materials he found. He wanted to be deliberate and careful in his selections using only the most interesting and eye catching finishes. He created a few extra boards for his Instagram followers to enjoy; one leaning more towards the beige family and one more gray in tone.

As part of the inspirational palette for Farrow and Ball, Paul gave his take on where design is headed and what he thinks we will be seeing more of in the future: "A monochromatic color palette allows the ability to play up texture and shape. I believe the future of design will focus on the natural texture of materials, bringing forth the inherent imperfections to enhance and add warmth to a space. The beauty of natural materials will be the focus with minimal attention on fabricated details. Turning our focus to the environment and the simple beauty that exists beyond our walls."
