Paul and Becky Heintz

Paul and Becky met and fell in love while earning their BS degrees in Interior Design at the highly ranked University of Cincinnati. They moved to LA, where Paul began work as a residential designer and Becky started working in commercial design. They got married and started LOCAL STUDIO to give Becky and Paul's creative spirit free rein. In the STUDIO, they were able to explore, test, create, and study furniture and space with no limitations. They use each other as a critic and sounding board and together they brainstorm through each idea and iteration. They feel very lucky to be bringing their ideas to fruition in this creative and collaborative adventure.

Paul began his residential design career in 2009, when he interned for a well-known Designer in East LA. Today, he has taken the experience and knowledge gained from years of working with an established firm and applied them to his own projects. He has managed and designed spaces that range from a single guest bathroom, to full home renovations of over 8,000 square feet. Paul consistently challenges himself to create unique and appropriate solutions for each of his clients. His favorite part of the job is getting to know each client and their backgrounds. He finds that design is most fulfilling when he's able to interpret experiences from a client’s past in an artistic way – allowing them to live in a space that pays homage to their life and what has brought them to where they are today. With a background in Fine Arts, Paul is able to really step back and look at each project with the eye of an artist.

Becky, (Paul's better half), started her professional career in 2013, working for a commercial design firm in Downtown LA. She was fortunate to work with a boss who acted as a mentor in a collaborative environment. Together they designed and implemented large-scale projects from 2,000 square feet to 45,000 square feet in size. Her clients ranged from well-known wealth management and investment firms, to start up tech companies. Becky cites project management, which she learned working under someone with over 30 years of experience, as her most valuable skill. Becky has a thirst for design and she can always be found researching the latest trends, reading career-enhancing publications, analyzing her environment, and admiring true craftsmanship. Quality is a top priority and expectation when it comes to the work she presents to the world. In Becky’s words, “High standards are meant to be met.”
